Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 3, 2024: Books worth more than Tk 60 crore have been sold in this year's (2024) Amar Ekushey Book Fair, which is at least Tk 13 crore more than 2023. Last year, books were sold at the fair worth Tk 47 crore. 3 thousand 751 books were published this year. 3 thousand 730 were published last year.

Maybe it seems like our mother tongue." She said, "Everybody should have the habit of reading. It is good if parents teach it from childhood. Many people take medicine to sleep, it is not necessary. Reading a book will make you fall asleep. If you read more interesting books, you will not fall asleep again. For this, again, you have to select books."

Dhaka, February 15: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated 'Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2022' this afternoon. The Prime Minister inaugurated the virtual fair by connecting to the fair premises of Bangla Academy in the capital through video conferencing from Ganobhaban. Besides inaugurating the fair, the Prime Minister presented Bangla Academy Sahitya Puraskar-2021. This time 15 eminent writers, poets and literary figures won the Bangla Academy Literary Award.

Bookfair to start tomorrow

Dhaka, February 14: Under normal circumstances, Amar Ekushey Book Fair would have started from February 1. However, due to the pandemic, the fair is starting tomorrow (Tuesday) two weeks late. The decision, which is still pending, says it will run until February 28. However, subject to improvement, the book fair time may be extended. This will be informed on 22 or 23 February. The publishers said that the fair should be organized till March 17.

Bangla Academy mulls book fair from February 15

Dhaka, February 1: Bangla Academy has proposed to hold Amar Ekushey Book Fair conditionally from February 15 to March 17. The proposal was adopted at a meeting of the Bangla Academy Book Fair Organizing Committee on Tuesday (February 1). It will now be sent to the Ministry of Culture in the form of a proposal, who will decide on this.

Book fair to end two days early

Dhaka, April 10: The Amar Ekushey Book Fair will end on April 12, two days ahead of schedule. State Minister for Culture KM Khalid was quoted as saying by the Ministry of Culture on Saturday (April 10). According to the previous decision, the book fair was to run till April 14.

Dhaka, January 29: Considering the Covid-19 situation, the book fair will start on March 18. The book fair will run till April 14. Habibullah Siraj, Director General of Bangla Academy, confirmed this information to the media on January 28 afternoon.
