Bookfair witnesses growth in sale on Mother Language Day

Dhaka, February 21: Today is International Mother Language and Great Martyr's Day. At the same time, Amar Ekushey Book Fair has seen an increase in footfall due to public holiday. Massive gathering at the fair was witnessed since morning. Sales have also increased.

The book fair was opened at 8 am on Monday on the occasion of 21st February. Many people who have come to pay their respects at the Shaheed Minar are entering the book fair on this day. As a result, the fair grounds became crowded from morning. As the day progresses, the number of people attending book fairs also increases. The visitors said that they are feeling comfortable walking around the fair as there is no fear of hot sun and rain in the afternoon.

The presence of young people at the book fair is as eye-catching as ever. However, since it is a holiday, most of the visitors have come with their families.

Meanwhile, the sales of several stalls said that the sale of books has also increased with the gathering of people at the fair. After visiting several stalls including Prothma, Ananya, Tamralipi and talking to the salesmen, they said that there are more people on holidays. Books are also selling better than other days. However, they said that everyone is looking for books by celebrity (popular) authors.
