Book Fair Bangla Academy mulls book fair from February 15
Dhaka, February 1: Bangla Academy has proposed to hold Amar Ekushey Book Fair conditionally from February 15 to March 17. The proposal was adopted at a meeting of the Bangla Academy Book Fair Organizing Committee on Tuesday (February 1). It will now be sent to the Ministry of Culture in the form of a proposal, who will decide on this.
Jalal Ahmed, member secretary of the book fair organizing committee, said it has been proposed to hold the book fair from February 15 to March 17 on the condition of observance of health rules and vaccination. Besides, Mazharul Islam, vice-president of Bangladesh Book Publishers and Sellers Association and CEO of another publication, also shared the same information on Facebook status.
Mazharul Islam wrote in the status given around 1:45 pm, "This year Amar Ekushey Book Fair will be held from February 15 to March 17. The proposal was adopted at a meeting of the leaders of the two publishers' associations with the Bangla Academy."
Earlier, the book fair was scheduled to start on February 1, but it was postponed for two weeks on January 16.
On January 16, Faisal Hasan, public relations officer at the Ministry of Culture, said, "The Minister of State for Culture has decided to postpone the Ekushey Book Fair for two weeks due to the Corona situation."
