Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Sept 1: The Road Transport and Highways Department has issued a notification setting new fares for diesel buses and minibusses following the reduction in fuel prices.
Penalty in mobile court if buses fail to display fare chart
Dhaka, August 12: If the buses plying on the capital's roads do not have the prescribed fare chart of BRTA, then that vehicle will be fined and this will continue, said Noor Mohammad Majumder, chairman of the organisation. He said this while talking to reporters after visiting Mohakhali Bus Terminal in the capital on Friday (August 12) afternoon.

Dhaka, August 10: Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has increased the bus fare due to fuel price hike. However, passengers are complaining of charging more than the fixed fare. BRTA is conducting an operation to stop the collection of excess fare. Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association has formed nine vigilance teams with them to monitor irregularities.

High Court orders to display fare chart at all bus stops
Dhaka, January 24: The High Court has directed to post the list of public transport fares in visible places of all bus and minibus stands across the country. Besides, the court asked the appropriate authorities to take action against the BRTA for not collecting the extra rent. It has been directed to take action in this regard within the next one month. A bench of the High Court comprising Justice Mamunur Rahman and Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the order on Monday (January 24).
18 bus drivers fined Tk 42,500 for overcharging passengers
Dhaka, November 11: After the increase in the price of fuel oil, the government has increased the bus fare and listed the increased fare on all routes. However, most of the buses plying in the capital do not have that list. Passengers allege that drivers and supervisors are charging extra fares from them without posting lists. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has conducted mobile courts at various points of the capital to stop the collection of extra fare on buses and has fined 18 bus drivers a total of Tk 42,500.
