Pakistan condemns terrorist attack on office of Amrullah Saleh in Afghanistan

Islamabad, July 29: Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attack on the office of Mr. Amrullah Saleh, a Vice Presidential candidate for the upcoming Presidential elections in Afghanistan.

The Pakistan government said in a statement: "Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."

 

"Pakistan fully supports the democratic process in Afghanistan. We stand with our Afghan brothers and sisters in their efforts to restore complete peace in the country through an inclusive Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process," read the statement.

 

The office of the second vice presidential candidate for President Ashraf Ghani's election campaign in Kabul's police district 4 (PD4) in Shaheed Circle was attacked by suspected terrorists on Sunday and left at least two people killed, media reports said.

 

According to reports, four terrorists attacked the office.

 

The attack started with a car bombing followed by gunbattle by four attackers, the Ministry of Interior's spokesman Nusrat Rahimi confirmed tol Tolo News.

 

The attackers targeted the Green Trend office, a political movement run by former NDS chief and vice-presidential candidate Amrullah Saleh, reported the news portal.

 

Rahimi told Tolo News that Saleh was “evacuated from the building and moved to a safe location.”

 

At least 40 people, who were stuck in the building, were evacuated.
