Three-day Bangabandhu Tour De CHT Mountain Bike Competition to begin on December 28

Dhaka, December 23: On the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 'Bangabandhu Tour De CHT Mountain Bike Competition-2020' has been organised. The competition will begin on December 28 and will continue till December 30.

The competition will be held from Sajek to Thanchi. The Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts has organized the competition, according to a press release by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts on Tuesday (December 22).

It was said that the competition was organized by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts on the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and to add a new dimension to the hill. One of its objectives is to promote adventure sports tourism in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region, to introduce the local people to mountain bi-cycling, to create opportunities for them to compete in the international arena, to enhance the physical and mental health of the new generation.

Competitors will cover a distance of about 300 km from Sajek to Thanchi. 100 people will get a chance to participate in the competition. Among the participants, 45 will be selected at the local level and 55 at the national and international level.

Prizes worth Tk 7 lakh will be distributed among the winners. The champion will get Tk 3 lakh, first runner up Tk 2 lakh, second runner up Tk 1 lakh and special prize Tk 1 lakh.

Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud will be present as the chief guest at the inaugural function, while MP Dipankar Talukder will be the special guest. Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Md. Shafiqul Ahmed will preside over the function.

Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Bir Bahadur Ushaisingh will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony at Thanchi on December 30 in the afternoon.
