1,00,84,377 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine administered so far in the country

Dhaka, June 18: Since the start of the coronavirus vaccination program in the country, 1,00,84,377 doses have been administered so far. All of this has been the Covishield vaccine developed at the Serum Institute of India with the Oxford-AstraZeneca formula.

A total of 1,02,00,000 doses of vaccine have been received from India so far. As such, there are only 1,15,623 doses of this vaccine left in the country, according to a press release sent by the Department of Health on Thursday (June 17).

According to the Department of Health, 58,20,015 people have taken the first dose of the vaccine, while 42,64,362 people have been administered the second dose.

On Thursday, 3,295 people took the second dose of the vaccine.

The release said those who have taken the first dose is not facing a vaccine crisis. The country does not have the required stock of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine doses that is needed to vaccinate those waiting for the second dose. Meanwhile, as the World Health Organisation is yet to allow the intake of two separate doses, these people will have to wait till it is made available or the WHO directive is changed.

The countrywide coronavirus vaccination drive started on February 7. The vaccines were administered from 8 am till 2:30 pm everyday.

After a crisis was senses, authorities stopped giving out the first dose of the vaccine from April 26. Registration process for the first dose of the vaccine was halted on May 2.
