10 people receive Independence Award from Prime Minister Hasina

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 26 March 2024: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented the country's highest national civilian award 'Independence Award-2024' to 10 distinguished individuals in recognition of their outstanding contribution in their respective fields at the national level. The Prime Minister presented the award at a function organized at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital on Monday.

This time, three people have received awards in the field of freedom and Liberation War, one in science and technology, one in medicine. Besides, one in culture, one in sports and three in social service received the state highest medal.

In the field of freedom and Liberation War, Kazi Abdus Sattar received the Bir Pratik, Hero Freedom Fighter Flight Sergeant Md Fazlul Haque (posthumous) and Hero Freedom Fighter Shaheed Abu Naeem Md Najib Uddin Khan (Khurram) (posthumous).

Dr. Mubarak Ahmed Khan, Dr. Harishankar Das received the award in science and technology category.

Mohammad Rafiq Uzzaman in Culture and Feroza Khatun in Sports received the award. Aranya Chiran, veer freedom fighter Professor Dr. Mullah Obaidullah Baki and SM Abraham Lincoln received awards in social service/public service.

Fifty gram gold medal of 18 carat quality, check of honor money and a letter of appreciation are given as awards. Council of Ministers Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain presided over the award distribution session and presented the brief biographies of the award winners.

Mohammad Rafiq Uzzaman expressed his feelings on behalf of the winners of the Freedom Award 2024. Members of the Council of Ministers, advisers to the Prime Minister, members of parliament, senior civil and military officials, prominent citizens of the country including eminent poets and literary writers were present in the event.
