Independence Award 10 prominent people are receiving Independence Award
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 16 March 2024: Ten distinguished individuals are receiving the Freedom Award 2024 in recognition of their glorious and meritorious contribution at the national level. The list of nominees for the Freedom Award has been released in a Cabinet Division circular on Friday.
This time, three people are receiving awards in the field of freedom and liberation war, one in science and technology, and one in medicine. Apart from this, one in culture, one in sports and three in social service are getting the state highest medal. Kazi Abdus Sattar, brave freedom fighter Flight Sergeant Md Fazlul Haque (posthumous) and heroic freedom fighter Shaheed Abu Naeem Md Najib Uddin Khan (Khurram) (posthumous) are receiving freedom award in the field of freedom and liberation war.
Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan in Science and Technology category, Dr. Harishankar Das in Medicine was nominated for Freedom Award. Mohammad Rafiquzzaman in culture and Feroza Khatun in sports are receiving the award. Aranya Chiran, veer freedom fighter Prof. Dr. Mullah Obayedullah Baki and SM Abraham Lincoln are receiving awards in the field of social service/ public service.
It is the highest state award in the country. The government has been giving this award every year since 1977 on the occasion of Independence Day on March 26. In case of Freedom Award, the awardee will be given Taka five lakh, 50 gram gold medal of 18 carat quality, a replica of the medal and a citation.
