BGB 11 platoons of BGB were deployed in the capital at night
Dhaka, 29 October 2023: BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami have called a strike across the country today. 11 platoons of BGB were deployed in the capital on Saturday night for public safety during the strike.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Headquarters Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam said, "One platoon in Ramna, two platoons in Motijheel and two platoons in Paltan will be on BGB patrol."
Besides, two BGB platoons have been deployed in front of the Secretariat and the residence of the Chief Justice.
BNP held a mass meeting at Nayapaltan in the capital on Saturday.
From this rally, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced morning and evening hartal across the country on Sunday.
It has been reported that the party is holding a strike program across the country on Sunday in protest against the attack by the Awami League and the police on the BNP rally in Nayapaltan. On the same day after BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami called for morning-evening hartal across the country.
Acting Secretary General of the organization Maulana ATM Machum announced this in a statement. He said that the strike was called in protest against the arrest of activists.
On this day, BNP clashed with the police at the center of the rally. A policeman was killed. Many others were injured. Besides, several media workers were also injured in the clash.
