1200 MW electricity will be available from Rooppur nuclear power plant in 2024

Dhaka, December 31: From 2024, the first unit of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will add 1200 MW of electricity to the national grid. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said this.

Mentioning the overall progress of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant as satisfactory in the global context, he said that despite some small impacts due to Covid-19, the progress of the overall work is promising.

The state minister said this to reporters after inspecting the progress of construction of Rooppur nuclear power plant, the country's biggest mega project, and PCB transmission line work in Rooppur area of Ishwardi in Pabna district on Thursday. He said that Rooppur nuclear power plant of clean energy will play a great role in building a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh at an affordable price. Eighty-seven percent progress has been made on the first unit of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

Nasrul Hamid said, this mega project was the dream of Bangabandhu, his fearless, visionary daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is implementing it. This nuclear power plant with the latest technology in the world will take the power sector of Bangladesh to a unique height.

Secretary of Power Department Md. Habibur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board, Managing Director of PGCB, Project Director of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant were present at this time.
