2,156 people live in every sq km in Dhaka

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 28: According to the preliminary report of Population and Housing Census 2022, the population density is highest in Dhaka Division. In the capital, 2,156 people live in every square kilometer, and the lowest density is in Barisal division, where 688 people live in every square kilometer.

The preliminary report of the first digital Population and Housing Census 2022 implemented through BBS under the Department of Statistics and Information Management was released on Wednesday (July 27) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital.

The report revealed that the population density in the country is highest in Dhaka division as 2,156 people live here in every square kilometer area. Mymensingh division is in the second position, in this division 1,146 people live every square kilometer.

Rajshahi is in the third position, the division has a population density of 1,121 people per square kilometer. Next is Rangpur, the division has a density of 1,088 people per sq km. Apart from this, Chittagong division has 979 people per sq km, Sylhet division has 873 people per sq km, Khulna has 782 people per sq km and Barisal division has a population density of 688 people per sq km.

According to the report of BBS, currently the total population of Bangladesh is 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand 616. Among them, the number of men is 8 crore 17 lakh 12 thousand 824, the number of women is 8 crore 33 lakh 47 thousand 206 and the number of the third gender is 12,629.
