Durga Puja 2 lakh Ansar-VDP members deployed in Durga Puja pandals across Bangladesh
Dhaka, Oct 21: Two lakh 12 thousand 662 members of Ansar-Village Defense Party (VDP) have been deployed in 32,845 puja pandals across the country on the occasion of the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community. Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party Public Relations Officer Md. Zahidul Islam gave this information on Friday.
Zahidul Islam said, "After necessary briefing, training and preparation, they were deployed from Friday to ensure the security of the places of worship across the country. On the occasion of Durga Puja, 7,796 mandaps have been identified as more important and eight Ansar-VDP members have been deployed to ensure security of such puja mandaps."
In addition, six members of Ansar-VDP are on duty in each of the 11,599 important and 13,450 ordinary puja pandals. They will be in charge of round-the-clock security till October 24. Besides, 64 quick response teams have been kept ready in the battalions under the range for any emergency deployment in 64 districts.
