Dhaka, June 12: Admission tests have been postponed in 20 general and science and technology universities across the country due to the spread of deadly coronavirus infection. At the same time, the deadline for initial application for the cluster admission test has been extended to June 25. The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of 20 university vice-chancellors on Friday (June 11).

According to the previous decision, from June 19 to the first week of July, three departments (Science, Humanities and Business Education) were to take admission test in three days.

"The pre-announced date of admission test for cluster universities has been postponed as the corona infection situation has not improved. It is not possible to take the test at the moment," said Vice Chancellor of Barisal University Prof. Dr. Chadekul Arefin Matin.

"Therefore, the deadline for initial application has been extended till June 25. Now the admitted students can apply till 11:59 pm on June 25. The date of taking the test will be announced later considering the corona situation," he added.

This time, for the first time, 20 general and science and technology universities are taking admission test on cluster basis. Last academic year, seven agricultural universities and agricultural-dominated universities started admission tests on cluster basis. Through a group-based examination, an admitted student will have the opportunity to be admitted to any university according to his / her qualifications and seats with an examination in his / her department.

According to the previous decision, there will be a total of three examinations for 20 general and science and technology universities. One of these exams will be for science students, another for humanities students and another for business education students.

According to the decision, the admission test of the humanities department on June 19, the commerce department on June 26 and the science department on July 3 has been postponed.

For the first time, 20 general and science and technology universities of the country have taken part in the admission test.
