26 drug addict Bangladeshi police to be sacked

He told reporters after inaugurating the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic in the capital's Mirpur on Saturday morning.

"We have tested the suspects for drugs," he said. Of these, 26 members got positive. The process of dismissal of these 26 people has started.

"We believe that taking action against them in this way will send a clear message to the rest that we are not giving concessions to anyone," he said.

Speaking about the tough stance on those involved in drugs, Shafiqul Islam said, "Many people have got better as a result of this initiative of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and have come back from this path." And those police members who have not deviated from the path and are involved in drugs or are collaborating with drug dealers are being arrested with cases directly against them.

Claiming that no action was being taken in this regard, he said, "Action is being taken against a policeman involved in drugs in the same way as action is being taken against an ordinary drug dealer."

Additional Commissioner (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammad Monirul Islam, Additional Commissioner (Administration) Mir Rezaul Alam, Additional Commissioner (Intelligence) KM Hafeez Akter were present on the occasion.
