Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 23: Italian Ambassador Enrico Nunziata said that the governments of Bangladesh and Italy are working on an agreement. As a result of this agreement, Bangladeshi workers will be able to go to Italy for work. A quota of 3,000 people has been reserved for Bangladeshi workers. This number will increase in the future. The deal will allow students, researchers and investors to travel to Italy.

He said these things in an exchange meeting at Shariatpur Municipal Auditorium on Friday (July 22) aimed at preventing human trafficking and encouraging safe immigration.

The Italian ambassador also said that on June 30, Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense held the first discussion on this agreement. "We want no one to reach Italy illegally from Bangladesh. We are providing all possible assistance to those who are currently traveling to Italy legally."

Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen said in the meeting that those who travel abroad illegally cannot get any support from the government. They are harassed at different times and places. Especially when they try to enter Italy illegally from Libya by boat or trawler, many accidents take place in the sea.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed said, "We always see cases of fraud and harassment of illegal travelers. Many times we do not catch the criminals properly due to their lack of evidence. Still we try to catch them from the highest point of law."

He said, "After the opening of Padma Bridge, employment opportunities have been created for the people of the southern region. With the aim of earning money, instead of going abroad and risking life illegally, money can be earned by arranging employment in the country with that money. We don't want to become corpses by going abroad in the hope of more money. Inform your neighborhood administration about identified brokers in your area. We will take legal action."
