40th BCS viva exam likely in September

Dhaka, August 24: The 40th BCS Oral Examination (Viva) may start in mid-September. The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has already completed all the preparations for the exam. It was supposed to start on February 18, but it was delayed due to the Corona situation.

A PSC official, who did not want to be named, said on Monday (August 23) that the oral examination of the 40th BCS, which was stuck due to the coronavirus pandemic, could begin in the middle of next month. "PSC has taken overall preparation in this regard. Hopefully, this will be an official announcement soon," he said.

PSC published the notification of 40th BCS on 11 September 2018. Four lakh twelve thousand five hundred and thirty-two people applied to take part in the preliminary examination. Of these, three lakh twenty-seven thousand candidates have appeared for the exam. Twenty thousand two hundred and seventy-seven of them passed the preliminary. Ten thousand nine hundred and sixty-four people passed the written test.

A total of 1,903 cadres will be taken in the 40th BCS. In this, 200 people will be recruited in administration cadre, 72 in police, 25 in foreign affairs, 24 in tax, 32 in customs and excise and about 800 in education.
