BNP 46 BNP members jailed in sabotage case
Dhaka, Dec 25: The court sentenced 46 BNP leaders and activists to imprisonment for different terms in four cases of sabotage registered in 2018 at Kalabagan, Sutrapur and Cantonment police station areas in Dhaka.
Three separate Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Courts gave this verdict on Sunday. The court sentenced 17 BNP leaders and workers to two years and six months of rigorous imprisonment in the case of sabotage committed at the capital's Kalabagan police station five years ago. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam gave the sentence.
The convicts are Saidur Rahman Saeed, Md. Saiful Vikel Saiful, Md. Shyamal Bhuiyan, Md. Milan Sheikh, Md. Jamil Islam, Md. Mahbubur Rahman Nayan, Md. Hossain Ali, Sheikh Swadhin Muslim, Md. A. Mannan Bhuiyan, Md. Jamal Khan, Md. Mustafa Sharif Tipu, Md. Jahangir Hossain, Md. Abdur Rahim, Md. Nadeem Ahmed Pavel, Md. Mehedi Hasan Billal, Md. Obaidul Islam Saikat alias Sujan, Md. Kamal Hossain.
On September 20, 2018, the police registered the case at Kalabagan police station in the capital. The court has sentenced 19 BNP leaders and activists to two years of rigorous imprisonment in two cases of sabotage at Sutrapur police station in the capital five years ago. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ataullah gave the sentence. In addition to imprisonment, each accused is fined Tk 5,000.
The convicts are Md. Abdus Sattar, Md. Delwar Hossain, Md. Nazir, Md. Javed Kamal Rubel, Kazi Mofizur Rahman Kauchar, M.A. Haque Sabuj, Md. Sohail, Akhter Hossain, Md. Faisal, Kamrul Hasan Nayan, M.A. Haque Sabuj, Nazir Ahmed, Akhtar Hossain Aktu, Kazi Mofizur Rahman Kawshar, Md. Momtazul Haque Liton, Yachin Javed, Kamrul Hasan Nayan, Md. Sohail and Md. Momtaz.
The court sentenced 10 BNP leaders and activists to two years of rigorous imprisonment in three sections in the case of sabotage committed at the Cantonment police station of the capital five years ago. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir gave the sentence. The convicts are Abu Talha, Principal Liaquat Ali, Jihad Al Sifat, Tarekul Razzaq Tarek, Tarekul Islam Talukder, Roni, Tuhin, Md. Kabir, Saddam Hossain Rabbi, Sakshar Uddin.
