HIV 9,708 HIV positive patients in the country
Dhaka, January 23: Currently, the number of HIV positive patients in the country is 9,708, and 1,890 people have died of it. Health Minister Zahid Maleque gave this information at the National Parliament session on Sunday.
In a written reply to a question from Begum Lutfunnesa Khan, Member of Parliament for the reserved women's seat, the Health Minister said that currently, the number of HIV positive patients in Bangladesh is 9,708, of which 6,75 are under treatment, and so far 1,890 people have died of HIV. Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that various steps have been taken for the treatment and rehabilitation of HIV patients.
These are – free drug supply to HIV patients from 11 government hospitals, free HIV testing in 23 government hospitals, free drug supply to drug users from eight NGO institutions, and HIV prevention services from 134 public-private drop-in centers.
