Dhaka, Feb 5: Ninety-five members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) fled to Bangladesh with weapons to avoid loss of lives in the ongoing conflict inside Myanmar.

BGB Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam said this on Monday (February 5) morning.

He said that 95 members of the Border Guard Police (BGP) of the country have entered Bangladesh with weapons so far due to the ongoing conflict inside Myanmar. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) disarmed them and took them to safe zone. Further action in this regard is ongoing.

Earlier on Sunday, this official of BGB said that since Sunday morning, members of Myanmar's border guard force BGP started taking refuge in Bangladesh to save their lives. They entered Bangladesh through the Tumbru border area of Naikhongchari in Bandarban. Since last week, the conflict on the Bangladesh border has also taken a terrible form. Bullets and mortar shells fired by both sides are coming inside Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal while talking to reporters in his office at the Secretariat on Sunday said, "We do not want to get involved in any war. We don't want war. Our Prime Minister always gives those instructions. But we are always ready."

He said, "We have increased the strength on the Myanmar border. We have told the police, we have also given instructions to the Coast Guard. So that no one can intrude into our borders. We are very careful about that. We don't know how long the war lasted. But I will not let anyone cross the border. We have given that instruction to BGB."

Asaduzzaman Khan also said that if the government forces of Myanmar enter Bangladesh for self-defense, they will be sent back to their country again.
