Collected A sculpture of Bangabandhu was inaugurated at Manipur School in the capital on Sunday on the occasion of Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day.

A mural of Bangabandhu will be erected at Benapole land port station

"A modern railway station will be built in Benapole," he said. "There are also plans to place a mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the station."

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of Goods Yard expansion work at Benapole railway station on Sunday (January 10th).

The Director General of Railways said that the development work of Bangladesh Railway is expanding rapidly. In the eyes of the Prime Minister, the railway communication system of the country is moving forward day by day. Import and export activities are being done with India at low cost. However, the import trade is being hampered as there is no yard at Benapole port railway station. That is why two goods yards are being set up. More yards will be built later.

Shamsuzzaman said the country would soon import high quality railways, adding that there was no alternative to railways for the development of the country. There are savings in transporting goods by train. He also said that the number of goods transport vans will be increased by thinking of the farmers.

Md. Azizur Rahman, Commissioner, Benapole Customs House, among others, presided over the function, which was presided over by Mihir Kanti Guha, General Manager, Western Railway; President of Benapole C&F Association Mofizur Rahman Sajon; Abdul Jalil, Acting Director, Benapole Land Port; Deputy Director Mamun Kabir Tarafdar; Railway Divisional General Manager (Pakshi) Shaidul Islam; Chief Engineer of Railways (Rajshahi) Abu Fatta Mashudur Rahman; Jessore Citizens Movement Committee President Sheikh Masudur Rahman was present.

After the inauguration ceremony, Director General Shamsuzzaman visited the port area including Benapole checkpost. He also exchanged views with the leaders of Benapole C&F Agents Association.
