About 12,000 expatriates who came to the country on holiday want to return to Qatar. They demanded that the visa process be facilitated through a meeting between the Prime Ministers or the Presidents of the two countries, Bangladesh and Qatar.

On Sunday (December 20) at 12 noon in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the expatriates made various demands. They also threatened to stage protests like the Saudi expatriates if necessary.

Ismail Hossain, a Qatari expatriate from Chandpur, said Qatari expatriates have been stuck for 12 to 13 months. They are living an inhuman life. We have not received any help from the government or any NGO. We are stuck in the country because of the new entry permit system. We demand that this process be simplified to get Qatar back very soon.

"Our demand to the prime minister is to take steps to simplify the alternative procedure called entry permit by visiting Qatar at a higher level," he said.
The speakers said that if our re-entry permit is made easier, we will be able to go abroad. Some of us are stuck on leave for 11 months and some for 12 months because of Corona. High-level meetings between the two countries are needed to facilitate re-entry permits.

"Ninety-five percent of Qatari expatriates have expired visas. We have been applying for re-entry for the past four months, but they are not accepting our applications," they said. The incidence of corona is much higher in neighboring India but workers from that country are going to Qatar from there.

They demanded the government to facilitate the diplomatic process and send expatriates to Qatar quickly.
