Agitating tea workers halt Paharika Express

Dhaka, August 24: The agitating tea workers protested by blocking the Paharika Express train from Chittagong to Sylhet, demanding a daily wage of Tk 300 at Kulaura in Moulvibazar. On Tuesday (August 23) around 4 pm, several hundred workers gathered at the railway gate area of the upazila city and blocked the train.

Uttam Goala, General Secretary of Kaliti Tea Garden Panchayat Committee confirmed the matter and said that the workers of seven tea gardens participated in the protest with them.

The workers have also blocked Dhaka-Bianibazar regional road and Moulvibazar-Rajnagar road. They did not accept the decision to return to work with a salary of Tk 120. Even today most of the tea workers of Balishira, Manu, Dhalai Juri, Longla plantations in Moulvibazar did not go to work. Workers were seen gathering in various tea gardens and holding meetings and processions.

The workers said, we are being cheated by talking about the Prime Minister. We do not accept this decision.
