AM Amin Uddin appointed as new Attorney General

Dhaka, October 9: Advocate Abu Mohammad (AM) Amin Uddin, the current president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and a senior lawyer, has been appointed as the country's chief legal officer. President Md. Abdul Hamid has appointed him as the 16th Attorney General of the country. The appointement was made on Thursday (October 8th) by issuing a circular signed by Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Golam Sarwar.

Mahbubey Alam, the 15th Attorney General of the state, died on September 27.

His death left the post of chief legal officer of the state vacant.

In this situation, AM Amin Uddin was appointed as the new Attorney General.

Mahbubey Alam was appointed as the 15th Chief Law Officer of the state on January 31, 2009 as the Attorney General.

He held this position till his death.

AM Amin Uddin was born on 1 October 1963 in Kulaura, Moulvibazar.

He was enrolled as a lawyer in the Supreme Court on October 28, 1989.

He has been working as a lawyer for more than three decades.

Advocate AM Amin Uddin was enrolled in the Bangladesh Bar Council as a lawyer in 1987.

He joined the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in 2003 and became a senior lawyer in 2015.

He served as Assistant Attorney General in 1996 and as Deputy Attorney General in 2000.

He was once elected secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

He was elected president of the executive committee of the association for the last two terms.

Senior Advocate AM Amin Uddin, a candidate of the government-backed party (white panel), has been serving as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (Bar Association) in the 2020-21 session.

Earlier, AM Amin Uddin, a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, was also elected as the president of the association for the 2019-20 session.

Asked about his response, AM Amin Uddin said, "I will try my best to repay the trust placed in me by the government. I will also try to finish the unfinished work the late Attorney General Mahbubey Alam Sir left. I want the blessings of all for this."
