Dhaka, June 19, 2022: Cattle have also taken shelter with people in the flood-hit areas of Bangladesh.

The flood-affected people brought their livestock with them. According to district administration sources, 1,544 shelters have been opened in 12 flood-hit districts so far. There are 58,031 cattle with 30,605 people taking shelter.

The district administration is arranging food for these people and cattle. Although it is less than necessary. Among the cattle that came to the shelter, cows, buffaloes, goats and sheep were raised on the occasion of sacrifice.

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, at least 18 districts have been flooded. The districts are Rangpur, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Manikganj, Sunamganj, Sylhet, Bogra, Madaripur, Sirajganj, Tangail, Kurigram, Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Faridpur, Rajbari, Munshiganj and Netrokona.

Although 596 medical teams have been formed for the treatment of people and cattle in the shelters set up in these districts, 198 teams are working. Ansar, village police, volunteers and NGO representatives are working for the security of the shelter. Adequate lighting has been provided at night, said the concerned district administration officials.

Meanwhile, the farmers in these flood-hit districts are terrified of the cows raised on the farms. Pashurhat has not yet sat on the occasion of the sacrifice. On the other hand, the farm has started to be submerged in the flood waters. This year there are less buyers. The first reason is not panic and the second reason is that the financial stability of the people has decreased.

Sacrificial animals are likely to sell less this year. The owners of these cattle also said that they will face loss in this. If the farm is submerged in water with 20/21 days left of the sacrifice, then they will be in trouble with these animals.

Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said that floods are occurring in 12 districts including Jamalpur, Faridpur and Sylhet. When the waters of Brahmaputra, Jamuna, Padma and Meghna rivers rise, 20 to 24 districts of the country are flooded. The flood forecasting and warning center has already informed about the rising water level of these four rivers in the country.
