Annual DC Conference concludes

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 21: The three-day Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference has ended. The meeting, which began on Tuesday (January 18) morning with the inauguration by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ended on Thursday (January 20) evening. The conference concluded with the 25th session chaired by Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam.

The DC Conference is organized every year to provide direct exchange of views and necessary directions between the policy makers and the Deputy Commissioners of the Government.

Out of 25 sessions in the conference, there were 21 working sessions with different ministries and departments. Ministers, advisors, state ministers, secretaries and heads of departments of the concerned ministries were present in the session. A total of 263 proposals were presented at the conference by the Deputy Commissioners and Divisional Commissioners. The highest number of proposals was received from the Ministry of Land (18 proposals).

Then the Ministry of Social Welfare is in the second position among the highest proposals makers. 16 proposals related to this ministry were presented. The Ministry of Public Administration is in the third position. The conference discussed 15 proposals related to this ministry.

Various proposals were made at the conference on land management, Covid management, law and order situation, strengthening the activities of local government bodies, disaster management and rehabilitation, implementation of employment and poverty alleviation programmes at the local level, and implementation of social security programmes.

It also proposed further use of information and communication technology and further ensuring e-governance, development and expansion of quality of education, health care and family welfare, protection of environment and prevention of pollution, development of physical infrastructure and implementation of development activities. Those responsible have informed the DCs about their position on these proposals.
