Argentine Foreign Minister arrives in Dhaka

Dhaka, February 27: Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero has arrived in Dhaka on a three-day visit to Bangladesh.

He was welcomed by Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen when he arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Monday (February 27) around 8 o'clock in the morning.

During the three-day visit, he is scheduled to inaugurate Argentina's embassy in Dhaka after 45 years and he is also likely to sign agreements with Bangladesh on three issues, including cooperation in the agricultural sector.

According to sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Santiago Cafiero will hold a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen along with the inauguration of the mission on Monday.

In addition, the Argentine Foreign Minister's visit is scheduled to include visa waivers on official and diplomatic passports and cooperation agreements and signings in football.

On the second day of his visit to Bangladesh, Santiago Cafiero will pay tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi on Tuesday. He will then have a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a meeting with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Foreign Minister of Argentina will watch the friendly football match of the under-14 footballers after exchanging views with the President of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Salahuddin. Argentina's Foreign Minister will discuss cooperation with senior officials of non-governmental organization BRAC and supershop Unimart during the three-day visit.
