Dhaka, April 3: Senior Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim has demanded the formation of a special tribunal to carry out the trial of Hefazat-e-Islam leaders and activists involved in the violence. The demand was made in parliament on Saturday (April 3).

Taking part in the unscheduled talks, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim said, "BNP-Jamaat-Hifazat are anti-Islam. Even though Hifazat has Islam in name, they are anti-Islam, militants, anti-independence activists. They are enemies of the country, enemies of the state. No concessions can be made. They should be tried immediately by a special tribunal."

He said, "Islam is a religion of peace, a religion of humanity. Islam does not destroy. Islam creates. Those who engage in militant-terrorist activities in the name of protection and nurture, BNP and Jamaat as their allies, they are using Islam. Hifazat is a terrorist-militant. Allah protect Islam."

"Those who do not recognize Bangladesh have no right to stay in Bangladesh," he said. "They must be brought to justice. The madrassas from which Hefazat militants have taken to the streets to kill people, attack and burn people's homes and installations must also be shut down. Islam can never harbor terrorists."

The Awami League leader said those who have the slightest faith in the independence of Bangladesh can never do this heinous act. They have no right to stay in Bangladesh.

Recalling India's unwavering support for the Liberation War, Sheikh Selim, the organizer of the Liberation War, said, "The Indian government and all the political parties of the country unanimously supported the Liberation War. They helped with arms. India is our friend in need."

"The Prime Minister of India is not an individual, he is an institution. Those who opposed Modi's arrival have not been able to accept the country's independence. They are descendants of Yahya, Tikka and Niazi, anti-Bangladesh, still dreaming of Pakistan.

When the BNP MPs started protesting in the parliament over his speech involving the BNP with Hefazat, Sheikh Selim said, "Don't get agitated. Let me finish. You won't be able to say anything. I have not told any untruth."
