Awami League's Tahsin Bahar is the mayor of Comilla city election

Dhaka, March 10, 2024 : Metropolitan Awami League's organizing secretary Tahsin Bahar won by a margin of 21 thousand 993 votes in the by-election of Comilla City Corporation (CUSIC).

His election symbol was the bus.

On Saturday (March 9) at 7:20 PM, Returning Officer Farhad Hossain announced the name of the winning candidate in the Comilla District School auditorium after counting the votes.

He said that the election was fair and impartial. Voters went to the center and peacefully voted for their preferred candidate.

Tahsin Bahar got 48 thousand 890 votes in the election.

His nearest rival candidate Monirul Haque Sakku got 26 thousand 897 votes.

Earlier, polling started from 8 am till 4 pm. Polling was held in 640 booths in 105 centers.

Four candidates participated in the election. The other two candidates are Comilla Metropolitan Awami League advisor Noor Ur Rahman Mahmud Tanim (elephant symbol) and former Swachasevak Dal leader Nizam Uddin Qaiser (horse symbol). Total voters in Comilla City Corporation election were 242 thousand 458 people. Voter turnout is 38.82 percent.
