Dhaka, March 27: The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has described the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a reflection of the long history of sacrifice and struggle of Bengalis for the establishment of rights. After visiting Tungipara in Gopalganj on Saturday and paying homage to the Father of the Nation with flowers, Modi commemorated Bangabandhu in the visitor's book.

He wrote, "The struggle of the people of Bangladesh for rights, their own culture and self-identity is a reflection of Bangabandhu's life. His indestructible consciousness and indomitable courage have inspired millions of people, overcoming many obstacles to become a victorious nation."

Narendra Modi arrived in Dhaka on Friday on a two-day visit to mark the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In the afternoon he took part in the ceremony at the National Parade Ground as the guest of honor.

On Saturday, the second day of his visit, he visited Tungipara and laid a wreath at the tomb of the architect of independent Bangladesh.

On arrival at the mausoleum complex, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed Modi with flowers. Bangabandhu's youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana was also present there.

After paying their respects, in the presence of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, Modi signed the visitor's book, visited the mausoleum complex and planted a tree sapling.

In his visitor's book, he wrote, "As a hero commemorating the people of India, I pay my respects to this great statesman of the 20th century. Bangabandhu is an unforgettable name in the history of the Indian subcontinent, which he reshaped with determination and self-sacrifice." "

Modi wrote, "In this historic year of Mujib, I firmly believe that the spirit of equality, liberation and justice passed by Bangabandhu will show us the way in the future as well."
