Dhaka, March 7: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that Bangabandhu's historic speech on March 7 is still inspiring the people to take the country forward. She was speaking as the chief guest at a function to mark the historic speech. Sheikh Hasina joined the event organized by the Ministry of Culture at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital through video conference from Ganobhaban.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism that no one will be able to confuse the new generation about the true history of the Liberation War, as everything is now open to the new generation for world technological advancement.

Sheikh Hasina said, "No one can distort the history of the liberation war of Bangladesh, can't confuse the younger generation. The world is open to today's generation. So they can no longer be confused even though the governments of the past have done it for 21 years. I firmly believe that in the age of technology, it will not be possible to push them (the new generation) into the dark."

Mentioning that Bangladesh is moving forward and will move further, Sheikh Hasina said the speech of the Father of the Nation on March 7 will encourage everyone to achieve the goal.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on the occasion of the historic March 7th speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque and Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni spoke as special guests on the occasion.

Mentioning that Bangabandhu's speech on March 7 was one of the 200 speeches inspiring the best people of two and a half thousand years in Jacob F. Field's book 'Great Speeches in Minutes', Sheikh Hasina said that the days of giving speeches were over.

The Prime Minister said although many great speeches were given in the history of the world, they were written, whereas Bangabandhu's historic speech on March 7 was impromptu. "We are celebrating 50 years of independence," she said. "Bangabandhu's speech on March 7 still inspires us."

Mentioning that the Father of the Nation had finished his speech by saying 'Joy Bangla', the head of government said that it seemed to be the victory of the Bengalis, the victory of the people of Bengal. Every freedom fighter has jumped into the war with the slogan 'Joy Bangla'. He was captured by the Pakistani army. He was tortured day after day for giving this slogan, but he used this slogan till his death.
