Dhaka, January 11: The Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has said that the speech delivered by the Father of the Nation on the racecourse ground on January 10, 1972, after returning to the independent country from captivity in Pakistan, had all the necessary directions to run an independent country.

The Prime Minister said, "As soon as he came to Dhaka, the Father of the Nation rushed to the racecourse ground. The speech he delivered there contained all the guidelines for running an independent state.

He said this while addressing a discussion meeting organized by Bangladesh Awami League on the occasion of Father of the Nation's return to his homeland. The Prime Minister participated in the virtual meeting by connecting to the Awami League's central office at 23, Bangabandhu Avenue via video conference from Ganobhaban.

Sheikh Hasina said a person can make such sacrifices if he is dedicated to a nation and how much he loves people. To know that, we should listen to the speeches of the new generation including the leaders and workers of Awami League on March 7 and the speeches on January 10 again and again. Only then will everyone get an inspiration and direction to do politics.

The Prime Minister said the father of the nation had lost 40 pounds from Pakistani jails. However, on his release, he left for London with his emaciated body and met with Prime Minister Heath, held a press conference and met with expatriate Bangladeshis. From there he returned to the country via Delhi, where he met Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the President, where he also addressed the people. After that he came to Dhaka and ran to the racecourse ground.

The Prime Minister said in her speech, she expressed her gratitude to the friendly country for its cooperation and also highlighted the atrocities perpetrated by the Pakistani forces on the people of the country. "Our only concern is for the welfare of the nation that our great leader has sacrificed his life for," he said. Make their lives beautiful. And we are working towards that goal. We will build a developed and prosperous golden Bangladesh by keeping the country free from terrorism and militancy - this is our promise on this Father's Day.

He said, "This nation will continue to stand tall in the world. Those who wanted to make this nation fail today have failed. Today, we will take Bangladesh forward by maintaining the status that Bangladesh has got as an independent country in the world."
