March 7 Speech Bangabandhu's speech published in Irish-Scottish-Welsh
Dhaka, March 10: Translations of Bangabandhu's historic March 7th speech into Irish, Scottish and Welsh have been officially published. The speech was published at the Bangladesh High Commission in London. This information was given by the London High Commission on Tuesday (March 9). Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen unveiled the wrapper of this special publication by attending the virtual event as the chief guest.
The speech was translated by linguists from Trinity College Dublin, Harriet-Watt University, Scotland and the University of Wales Trinity St David's College at the special initiative of Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem.
Among the guests of honor at the launch were KM Khalid, Minister of State for Culture of Bangladesh, Thomas Byrne, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Minister for Europe and the Prime Minister's Office of Ireland, and Mark Dreckford, MS, First Minister of Wales.
Chaired by High Commissioner Saida Muna Tasneem, the event was attended by special guests Miss Irina Bokova, former Director of UNESCO, Julian Knight MP, Chairperson of the House of Commons Select Committee on Digital, Culture, Media and Sports, Miss Joanna Cherry QC and MP, Miss Sarah MSP, SWAS artistic director. Sangeeta Ghosh, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wales Trinity St. David, Professor Medwine Hughes and Professor Mena Elfin, Professor Sir Jeff Palmer of Harriet-Watt University, Scotland, Head of the Department of Irish and Celtic Studies at Trinity College Dublin Vice President Professor Juliet Hosey, Scottish Language and History Specialist Dr Duncan Stuart Dawn, Senior Representatives of the British-Bangladeshi Community Sultan Mahmud Sharif and Naeem Uddin Riaz.
After unveiling the package, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the special translation would highlight the history of Bangladesh's independence and the significance of Bangabandhu's historic speech on March 7 to the people of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Thomas Byrne, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Prime Minister's Office of Ireland, said that by translating the March 7 speech into Irish, the people of Ireland would learn more about the historic speech of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh and the history of Bangladesh's independence under his leadership.
Wales First Minister Mark Dreckford said the March 7 speech in Welsh would encourage the Welsh people to learn more about the history of Bangladesh's independence movement and the Father of the Nation.
