Times Square Bangabandhu's speech to be screened at Times Square today
Dhaka, 15 August 2021: Audio-visual clips of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, the architect of Bangladesh, will be screened today at Time Square, a major tourist attraction in New York City.
On the occasion of the National Mourning Day of Bangladesh, the clip of Bangabandhu will be shown on the world famous huge 'Ball Drop' billboard in Times Square 720 times every two minutes every 24 hours. The audio-visual clip will have memorable moments of different times including the historic speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 7.
Earlier, the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh. AK Abdul Momen said the initiative was taken as part of an ongoing event to mark the centenary of Bangabandhu's birth.
“We have long been eager to enjoy such an exhibition at New York’s historic Times Square and the Empire State Building,” he added.
"Now we have that opportunity," the Minister said.
The Minister further said that clips of Bangabandhu and the country's economic development in places like Times Square will help to brighten the image of Bangladesh in the court of the world.
Along with the clip on a huge digital billboard in Times Square, an event will also be held on August 15 to mark National Mourning Day.
An estimated 50 million visitors visit Times Square every year.
