Dhaka, November 10: The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under construction under the Karnaphuli River will be partially opened this month. Obaidul Quader, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges and General Secretary of Awami League, said this during an exchange of views with journalists at the secretariat's own office.

He said, "Inauguration of 100 bridges simultaneously across the country does not seem to have happened before in South Asia. Padma Bridge is an expression of Sheikh Hasina's bold decision."

Awami League has 11 sub-committees for its national council, the general secretary of the party said, "The council of Awami League will not be grand on December 24. Because the global crisis is going on. Councils across the country will be finished before the national conference."

The Minister of Road Transport said, "We do not have such a crisis, which is present in many countries outside. We are better than many, I mean comfortable. If the cost of living increases, the common people will suffer. We are not denying that as a government. Realizing. We are trying. We are not saying that the crisis will go away."

In response to a question from journalists, he said, "Democracy is a developing process. We have efforts, there are mistakes and attempts to correct. The Election Commission will select. The Commission that is there is not the 'Aziz Marka' Commission. Legally, the Commission will work. To participate in the elections under this Commission. Where is BNP's objection?"

Obaidul Quader said, "There is a big economic crisis ahead. The government is trying to deal with it. Bangladesh is still in a comfortable position compared to many. The Prime Minister is repeatedly mentioning it because there are signs of crisis."
