Bangladesh Bangamata Moitri Setu unveiled
Dhaka, 4 September 2022 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Bangmata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge.
She announced the opening of the bridge through video conference from Ganobhaban on Sunday (September 4) at 11:00 am.
Through this, a direct road connection was established between the divisional city of Barisal and the divisional city and industrial city of Khulna. On the occasion of the inauguration, people from all walks of life of Pirojpur-1 (Pirojpur Sadar-Nazirpur-Nesharabad) constituencies on the Kumirmra end of the bridge, Pirojpur-2 (Kaukhali-Bhandaria-Indurkani) constituencies on one side of the Kaukhali end and Pirojpur-3 (Mathbaria) constituencies enjoyed the event.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Advocate Sh. M. Rezaul Karim MP, Deputy Commissioner. Zahedur Rahman, District Police Superintendent Mohammad Saidur Rahman, District Awami League President Bir Muktijoddha AKMA Awal, Pirojpur Municipal Mayor Habibur Rahman Malek and heads of various departments were present. On the other hand, various upazila executive officers, government employees, heads of various departments and ordinary people from different levels were present at the Kaukhali end of the bridge.
Class IX student of Pirojpur Government Girls High School Taslima Jerin joined Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a video conference and expressed her feelings. He says, because of this bridge, we will never have to face the suffering of ferries to reach school again. Many thanks to you for gifting us such a bridge.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Ziming spoke on the occasion. Road Transport and Highways Department Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Noori presented a power point presentation on the occasion. A video on the project was also screened at the event.
Another dream of crores of people in the south-western region of the country has been fulfilled by inaugurating this bridge built over the Kancha river at Bekutia on the Barisal-Khulna regional highway in Pirojpur district. Through this, there is no obstacle in the road communication between the divisional city of Barisal and the divisional city and industrial city of Khulna. Dhaka has been established with Kuakata beach and deep sea port Pyara, the country's 2nd sea port Mongla and the largest land port Benapole and above all with Pirojpur.
