Bangamata's 93rd birth anniversary observed

Dhaka, August 9: The 93rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's wife Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was observed on Tuesday through various programmes.

In the morning, the Awami League paid tribute to the grave of Fazilatun Nesha Mujib at the capital's Banani cemetery. Later, Korankhani, Milad and Doa Mahfil were held there to pray for the forgiveness of his soul.

Earlier, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader paid respects to Bangmata's grave first on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and then on behalf of the party along with central leaders. On behalf of Awami League, Awami League presidium members Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Organizing Secretary Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel and Afzal were also present during the tribute. Hossain, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan, Central Member Shahabuddin Faraji, Anwar Hossain and others.

Later, leaders of Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League North and South, Mahila Awami League, Jatiya Sramik League, Krishak League, Jubo League, Volunteer League, Jubo Mahila League, Chhatra League, Tanti League, Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Parishad and Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance offered wreaths at Bangmata's grave.

State Minister KM Khalid paid tribute on behalf of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on the occasion of the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs organized a programme on the occasion of Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib's 93rd birth anniversary celebration and 'Bangmata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Padak-2023' at the capital's Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday. Sheikh Hasina awarded the 'Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Padak-2023' to four distinguished women and the national women's football team in recognition of their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the financial donation and sewing machine distribution programme on the occasion. Among 4,500 needy women across the country, sewing machines and Tk 2,000 were paid to each of 3,000 needy women through mobile banking.

On the occasion of Bangamata Begum Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib's 93rd birth anniversary celebrations, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque held the Baad Zohar prayer on Tuesday.
