Bangladesh: Astrazaneca vaccine on the verge of ending

Dhaka, May 23, 2021: 57 lakh 19 thousand 912 people have taken the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine across the country till Saturday (May 22) to stay free from coronavirus infection.

Among them 37 lakh eight thousand 989 males and 22 lakh 10 thousand 933 females. So far 39 lakh 82 thousand 218 people have taken the second dose. As such, 18 lakh 46 thousand 694 people who were vaccinated with the first dose still have to take the second dose.

On the other hand, one crore and two lakh doses of vaccine have arrived in the country so far. Accordingly, there are now about four lakh seven thousand doses of vaccine left. On Saturday, 41,046 people were vaccinated in eight sections of the country. Among them 25 thousand 57 are men and 18 thousand 410 are women. The Department of Health has not released specific information on how long the second dose vaccination will last.

On May 17, the spokesman of the Department of Health, Director of the Department of Disease Control (CDC), Prof. Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam said in a press briefing on the corona situation, ‘The second dose of coronavirus vaccine is in stock for another week. Depending on the organization, it may take a day or two. However, efforts to collect vaccines from various sources continue.

According to a spokesman for the Department of Health, the second dose will be given in the next couple of days. Vaccination activities will then be stopped until the AstraZeneca vaccine is collected.
According to the Department of Health, the first dose of the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine was said to be taken four to eight weeks after the first dose, but now it can be taken after 18 weeks. That's why people don't have to worry too much about the second dose of the vaccine.
