Bangladesh: Collision between two trucks leave two drivers dead

Dhaka, 11 December 2022 : Two drivers were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between two freight trucks on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

The accident took place at Mahmudabad area of Belab Upazila of Narsingdi at around 6:30 am on Saturday (December 10).

The deceased are Abu Hashem (23) son of Abdul Halim of Balikanda village of Shibganj upazila of Bogra and Mofizul Islam (28) son of Muslim Uddin of Charmandal village of Charfashan upazila of Bhola.

According to Thana police sources, at the time of the incident, the truck loaded with tiles was going towards Dhaka and the truck loaded with cement was going towards Sylhet.

On the way, two trucks collided head-on when they reached Mahmudabad area of Belab Upazila of Narsingdi. After receiving information, Bhairab Fire Service and Bhairab Highway Police of Kishoreganj reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the two drivers from inside the truck. Later, the police brought the two bodies to Bhairav Highway police station.

The accident appears to have been caused by drowsy driving. Both trucks were loaded with cargo. After getting the identity of the deceased, their families have been informed.

Further legal action will be taken in this case.
