Bangladesh elected as member of UNESCO Executive Board

Dhaka, Nov 17: Bangladesh has been elected as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board. Bangladesh was elected as a member for the period of 2023 to 2027 through voting at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, on Wednesday. Voting was conducted from 9 am to 1 pm local time in Paris. 181 out of 184 members of the Executive Board voted. Bangladesh got 144 votes and was elected as a member.

After this victory, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, who was in Paris, congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and all concerned and said, Congratulations and best wishes to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on this electoral victory. Pioneering Bangladesh under his wise, visionary, courageous leadership has won the praise and confidence of all in the World Assembly today.

At the same time, he thanked and congratulated the Permanent Representative of UNESCO, Ambassador Khandaker Md. Talha, First Secretary of the Embassy, Walid Bin Kasem, Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education.

After announcing the results, UNESCO Director General Andre Azule congratulated Bangladesh Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni and both expressed their determination to work together in the coming days.
