Bangladesh: Foreign Ship arrives in Mongla harbor with luxury cars

Malaysian flag ship anchored at Jetty No. 8 of Mongla port on Saturday afternoon. The unloading of cars from the ship has already started.

According to the source of the port authority, on May 12, the ship 'MV Malaysia Star' left for Mongla port in Bangladesh from a port in Singapore. The ship has several brands of luxury cars including Exeo, Premio, Eleon, Aqua, Prado and minibuses.

"MV Malaysia Star" local shipping agent Ancient Steam Ship Khulna Manager Md. Ohiduzzaman said that 1,376 cars were imported in this ship. On May 18, 450 vehicles were unloaded at Chittagong port. Remaining 926 vehicles were brought to Mongla port. On June 3, Malaysia Star will ship another car shipment.

Habibullah Don, president of Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (Barbida), said that cars are being imported continuously. Car imports will increase further in future. Before this, on May 4, 703 reconditioned vehicles arrived at Bagerhat's Mongla port.
