Dhaka, 9 July 2023 : Health Minister Zahid Malek has alarmed people about the deadly Dengue outbreak in the country which may continue till August.

He said,"If we are not alert now, the dengue situation will be worse."

He said this while talking to reporters at his residence in Manikganj on Sunday afternoon.

The health minister said that 60 percent of the people who have been infected with dengue in the country are from Dhaka. So far dengue has spread in 57 districts.

If everyone is not alert, the dengue situation will become worse. He said that appropriate measures have been taken in hospitals across the country, including training doctors and nurses for dengue treatment. However, it is not possible for the government alone to deal with dengue. That's why everyone should be aware and work. The yard of the house should be kept clean. The source of the Aedes mosquito must be destroyed.

Urging the city corporations to spray more mosquito killers, Zahid Malek said dengue is more common in high-rise buildings. There are garages and drains. Aedes mosquitoes are born when water accumulates in buildings under construction.
