Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 20 October 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended her heartfelt greetings to all Hindu citizens of the country on the occasion of Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community.

"Durga Puja is not only a festival of the Hindu community, it is now a universal festival. Destruction of evil forces and worship of truth and beauty are the main features of Sharadiya Durgotsav," she said in a statement on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community for five days from October 20.

The Prime Minister said, "Bangladesh has been a country of communal harmony for a long time. We celebrate all religious festivals together in Bangladesh, inspired by the mantra 'Religion for each, festival for all'."

"Equal rights of people of all religions and castes have been guaranteed in our constitution. We have made Bangladesh independent by fighting a liberation war. This country belongs to us. Bangladesh is a safe abode for all people regardless of religion and caste. Everyone is practicing their religion freely. The current Awami League government is caste- Everyone is being developed irrespective of religion, caste and group. People of all religions are enjoying the benefits of development equally," the Prime Minister said.

On the occasion of Durga Puja, the Prime Minister wished peace, welfare and prosperity to all citizens, including Hindus.
