Bangladesh is monitoring the situation in Pakistan
Dhaka, April 11: Bangladesh is monitoring the ongoing political situation in Pakistan. Dhaka wants peace and stability to return to the country. Asked about Dhaka's position on the situation in Pakistan, a senior Foreign Ministry official said.
"If there is no stability among our neighbors, it could affect us for a number of reasons," he said. "It would not be right for us to talk about Pakistan's internal affairs. As a neighbor, I am monitoring the current situation in Pakistan. We want peace and stability to return to the country."
After many dramas, Imran Khan lost the prime ministership in the no-confidence vote brought by the opposition in the National Assembly on Saturday night. He is the first prime minister in the country's history to step down after losing a no-confidence motion in parliament.
Pakistan's lower house of parliament is scheduled to convene on Monday to elect a new prime minister. Shahbaz Sharif, the president of the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), is fighting for the post on behalf of his opponents in the fight for the PM's job.
On the other hand, Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman and outgoing foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is also vying for the PM's job.
