Dhaka, 30 October 2022 : The 20th session of the ongoing National Parliament has started.

The fifth session of this year started on Sunday (October 30) at 4:30 pm. Speaker Dr. Prime Minister and Parliament Leader Sheikh Hasina attended the meeting presided over by Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.

Before this, a meeting of the working advisory committee was held at 3:30 pm. Speaker Dr. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present in the meeting chaired by Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. According to the decision of the meeting, the session will continue till November 6.

Presidium nominations are given at the beginning of the session. They shall preside over the sittings of the Parliament on the basis of seniority in the absence of the Speaker or the Deputy Speaker. A condolence proposal was then brought. A minute's silence was observed after the offering of condolence in the name of eminent persons who died in the last two months. Later prayers are offered for the forgiveness of their souls.

The 19th session of the Parliament ended on September 1. This session started on August 28 and lasted for five working days. On the opening day, the parliament members elected Shamsul Haque Tuku as the new deputy speaker. According to the constitution, there is an obligation to convene the next session within 60 days of the end of a session.
