Dhaka, March 15: Former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said: "The agreement to establish diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and South Korea was signed with my fountain pen." He was speaking at the Bangabandhu Lecture Series program at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Monday (March 15). 

The lecture titled 'Bangabandhu: The Life of Bangladesh' was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The keynote address was delivered by Ban Ki-moon. Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Ban Ki-moon said, "I have worked to advance the relationship between Bangladesh and Korea. I was then an official at the South Korean Embassy in Delhi. The agreement to establish diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Korea was signed with my fountain pen. It's a memorable event in my life. "

He said Bangabandhu was a great leader. Bangabandhu has worked hard to build a prosperous Bangladesh. Incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also working accordingly.

Ban Ki-moon said Bangladesh has made unprecedented progress in GDP. Bangladesh has played an important role in education, women's empowerment, climate change risk management, etc. He greeted the people on the golden jubilee of Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Bangabandhu and Ban Ki-moon have relations with Bangladesh. It is a great pleasure for us.

He said Bangabandhu has worked all his life to establish justice and prevent economic inequality. Bangabandhu was not only the father of independence, he was in favor of secularism, secularism and the establishment of world peace.

South Korean Ambassador to Dhaka Lee Jang-kyan said Ban Ki-moon played a key role in establishing diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Korea after Bangladesh became independent. He has played an important role in advancing Bangladesh-Korea relations.

Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen and Bangladesh Ambassador to Korea Abida Islam also spoke on the occasion.
