Dhaka, May 30, 2021: The duration of the ongoing lockdown to prevent coronavirus infection has been extended for another 7 days, i.e. from midnight on May 30 to midnight on June 6.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Cabinet Division on Sunday (May 30).

The notification said that considering the current situation of coronavirus infection (Covid-19) infection, the time limit for imposing all previous restrictions has been extended from midnight on May 30 to midnight on June 8.

The lockdown began at 8 a.m. on April 5 as coronavirus infections continued to grow at an alarming rate. That loose lockdown was pretty much ineffective. Later, an eight-day 'severe lockdown' started from 6 am on April 14. The five-point lockdown was later extended. Last May 23, the period of restriction was extended for another seven days, i.e. from May 24 to 30, a notification was issued by the Cabinet Division.

At this time, all types of public transport including inter-district buses, launches and trains have been allowed to run in accordance with the health rules. At the same time, hotels and restaurants are allowed to serve half of the seats.

Also, the shops and shopping malls were open from 10 am to 8 pm in accordance with the hygiene rules. Factories were open. Offices are closed as usual except for emergency services. Bank transactions are limited.

Meanwhile, the expert committee of the health department has recommended lockdown in seven districts of the border to prevent corona infection. The districts are Naogaon, Natore, Satkhira, Jessore, Rajshahi, Kushtia and Khulna. A decision could be made on Sunday (May 30). Speaking at the Virtual Health Bulletin by the Department of Health about the situation of Kovid-19 at 2 pm, the spokesperson of the department Prof. Dr. Robed Amin said these things.

When asked by media persons about the reasons for the increase in infections in the border districts, the spokesperson of the health department said that those who are coming to the border legally are being quarantined through proper and well-managed management. But as Bangladesh's border with India is very large, there is a possibility of traveling legally as well as illegally. In that case the infection may increase.

He also said that the infection could increase through those who went to the village from Dhaka during Eid.
