Dhaka, April 18, 2021: Although the rate of corona infection has decreased a little, the death rate is exceeding the record every day.

For this reason, the National Technical Advisory Committee formed by the government to control the corona has recommended a two-week lockdown. The health minister is in favor of at least a three-week lockdown. So the government is planning to extend the lockdown for another week.

It is learned that a top level meeting will be held on Monday, April 19. The ongoing lockdown could be extended for another week from April 22 to April 26, subject to the approval of the Prime Minister. The ongoing 7-day lockdown will end on April 21 at 12 noon. According to the Ministry of Public Administration.

Sources said that there are suggestions from the Ministry of Health, expert technical committees and socially conscious quarters to increase the lockdown. But that will be the real lockdown. Health experts believe that it is possible to reduce the rate of infection only if it can be implemented. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has the authority to make the final decision in this regard. If the approval of the Prime Minister is received, it will be known on April 20. The Cabinet Division may also issue a notification in this regard on the same day.

An additional cabinet secretary, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Corona was considering extending the lockdown for some time. Because the rate of infection is not decreasing. The death rate is also increasing. If everything is opened in the middle, all the initiatives of the government will be ruined. Extreme threats to human health and safety.

If you want to know in this context, the Minister of State for Disaster Management and Relief. Enamur Rahman said it was up to the Prime Minister to decide whether the lockdown was increasing. He will decide to increase the lockdown based on the recommendations of health experts and the technical advisory committee formed by the government.

Note that the corona infection has been increasing again since last March. In the last two days in a row, 101 people have died due to corona infection. In such a situation, the government announced a 'comprehensive lockdown' from April 14 to 21 with strict restrictions to control corona infection. At present, government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices and financial institutions are closed in the lockdown.
