Bangladesh minister feels only vaccination cannot control COVID-19

Dhaka, 6 June 2021: Health Minister. Zahid Malek said that the countries where Corona is under control have better social and economic conditions.

Countries that are not under Corona's control are devastated. So we all have to try not to control the corona. Corona control is not possible with just vaccination. Hygiene and social distance must be obeyed.

He said, if everyone tries, control of corona in Bangladesh will be easier. Under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, all departments including the health department are working to control corona. That is why there is no shortage of medicine in the country, there is no shortage of food. Agriculture and industries are in operation. Our economy is better than many countries. Due to Corona, all but three countries, including Bangladesh, have a negative economy. We still have an average of 7 percent of GDP.

He said this while addressing a livestock exhibition organized by the Upazila Administration and Upazila Livestock Office at Garpara High School ground in Manikganj Sadar Upazila on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous, District Livestock Officer Mahbubul Islam and Sadar Upazila Awami League General Secretary Afsar Uddin Sarkar also spoke on the occasion under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Iqbal Hossain.

At the end of the program, the Health Minister saw improved breeds of cattle, goats, sheep, poultry, horses and deer in 50 stalls of the livestock exhibition.

Later, he attended the memorial and prayer mahfil of the late Fauzia Malek, mother of the health minister at Manikganj Colonel Malek Medical College and Hospital.

Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital auditorium principal said. Md. Additional Director General of the Department of Health Education, Prof. Dr. Zakir Hossain spoke at the memorial service. Abu Yusuf Fakir, Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous, Superintendent of Police Rifat Rahman Shamim, Hospital Director Gautam Roy, Project Director Khan Mohammad Arif, District Awami League General Secretary Advocate Abdus Salam and Diabetic Association General Secretary Sultanul Azam Khan Apel.
