Dhaka, Oct 23: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that since the formation of the Awami League government, Bangladesh is moving forward on the path of development.

She said this while participating in the discussion on the death of AKM Shahjahan Kamal of Lakshmipur-3 Constituency, Abdus Sattar of Brahmanbaria-2 Constituency and M Shahjahan Mia of Patuakhali-1 Constituency in the National Parliament on Sunday.

Before this, a discussion was held in Parliament on the condolence proposal. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with government and opposition parliamentarians gave speeches. Later, a minute's silence and prayers were held in Parliament. Hafez Ruhul Amin Madani, Member of Parliament of the ruling party led the prayers.

Parliament leader said that since the formation of the Awami League government, Bangladesh is moving forward on the path of development. In every case, our Parliament has contributed a lot. This is probably our last session of this term. That session had to start with the news of the death of some parliamentarians.

Seeking forgiveness for the souls of the deceased MPs, Sheikh Hasina said, the first day of this Parliament session was spent taking our condolence proposal. It is the saddest of all. We remember them with respect for their role in the development of Bangladesh and the welfare of people.

She said, "One by one we have lost many members. It was more during covid. This time three members have left us. They are old, but they have contributed a lot to the democratic struggle of Bangladesh, including the liberation war and the right to vote. AKM Shahjahan Kamal and M Shahjahan Mia have played a significant role in the struggle for human rights. I know everyone must die. Still we are losing everyone one by one by the end of the parliament. It is really difficult for us."
